New York Fashion has finally come to an end. And this season gave a wide-range of fashion moments to unpack. From Rodarte’s, Proenza’s, and Schouler’s spectacular return to Rihanna’s killer finale, the Spring 2019 collections was everything. Know all the major highlights from this year’s set of shows.
Rodarte Returns to NYFW

Rodarte came back to New York (instead of Paris) after a two year hiatus. Rodante’s romantic, dream like gowns came to life on the outdoor runway of graves. It was a reminder of the dreaminess that left New York two years ago after Rodarte dropped out. For a brand known for its delicate, yet moody aesthetic, the dark skies and drizzle of the rain couldn’t have been a more perfect backdrop. It transports you to a magical land. The Mulleavy sisters know how to make a good comeback.
Ralph Lauren’s 50th Anniversary Show was a Dream

Ralph Lauren’s 50th Anniversary was a star-studded extravaganza. He pulled out an over-the-top celebrity filled runway. From Kanye to Oprah, from Blake Lively to Hillary Clinton, and a long list of celebrities celebrated Ralph’s milestone that showcased an astounding 100+ runway looks.
Christina Aguilera, the Queen of NYFW

From her Harper’s Bazaar Performance to her unexpected fixtures at the Spring 2019 shows. From her front row guesting at Christian Crowan to an iconic performance at Opening Ceremony. Christina was present the whole week.
Runway Debuts

Madonna’s eldest daughter, Lourdes Leon debuted on Gypsy’s Sport Spring 2019 show, wearing only a chained- bra and baggy over-the-top baggy ripped jeans. She may be the next style icon we need.

The new creative director of Carolina Herrera, Wes Gordon debuted his first collection on the runway. Gordon bought color to the runway. A lot of tangerines and oranges dominated his set. He also introduced a new wave of youth and romanticism to the fashion house while still keeping the sophistication and lady like core of the brand.
Marc Jacobs is Always Late, but Never Disappoints

The Marc Jacobs SS19 show started 90 minutes late and a lot of fashionistas were not happy. He bought some drama and stirred a lot of rumors.

The drama filled wait, which Jacobs sincerely apologized on Instagram, was worth it though when an insane and incredible collection of feathers, ruffles, and colors hit the runway.
Diversity in New York Fashion Week

Prabal Gung’s SS19 collection was not just colorful, vivid and pretty. But it was an iconic moment for the brand because it showcased diversity. Gung had 40 different models from 40 different countries to walk on the runway. From India to China to Gung’s homeland which is Nepal, a mashup of culture and countries were celebrated. It was a beautiful moment that sent a strong message of hope in today’s political climate.
Black Culture Represented by Pyer Moss

A powerful runway show was presented by Pyer Moss. He bought the runway show to Brooklyn for a show that celebrated black culture to the fullest extent. The show’s location is the nation’s first free black community after slavery. It served a powerful setting for a collection that utilized works from a black artist and made statements on the runway. Making it one of the most beautiful and powerful shows for the week.
Drag Queens at the Opening Ceremony show

Opening Ceremony collaborated with Ru Paul’s Drag Race. Ceremony’s show was in the form of a live drag show hosted by Sasha Velour, Ru Paul Drag Race 2019 Winner. The show only opted for LGBT models and Drag Queens. It celebrated the oft, marginalized community in a fun, yet inspiring way. Christina Aguilera ended the show with a surprise performance.
Rihanna Ended New York Fashion Week With a Grand Finale

The week came to a magnificent and and iconic grand finale: Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty Lingerie. It was an incredible and diverse show showcasing and celebrating womanhood and femininity in every way. It showcased symbolic dances, theatrical performances and a runway cast that includes two pregnant models. In short, Rihanna won the whole week.
